The ThinkTankThursday concept is based on free use of materials and no (or low) costs / earnings for all participators which are involved with ThinkTankThursday events.

Unless the easy access ambition of the ThinkTankThursday concept it’s fair to cover expenses made by the contributors. They will probably have travel expenses and it’s decent to cover all costs of drinks and snacks during the event.

Besides the reasons given above, rewarding contributors will prevent organizations from discussions concerning intellectual property rights (IPR). Still, participation at ThinkTankThursday events is primary based on respect and acknowledgement. It’s voluntary for contributors and intended to enjoy the fun of knowledge sharing while helping organizations to innovate at the same time.

Organizers: Make sure it’s clear for everybody which (if any) payment structure can be expected and how you deal with IPR! It’s your responsibility. The same applies if the organization obliges contributors to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) before participating.
